Our Philosophie: „Don´t moan, do something!“
Everyone can help in his/her own way, and usually small things get the ball rolling.
We try to keep the costs for our Tango Tours as low as possible and at the same time try to support the people in Argentina as much as we can. Often a balancing act, but assistance is direct, without expenditure for administration and we can say with pride that very much has been reached already. 3 marvelous projects, which grow daily, carry fruits and in the practical work are led by our assistant person Manuel the Ortiz.
"30 chicos - 30 baņos"
30 kids – 30 baths. A project, which is set from the bottom up. It is about covering the basic needs for kids and family and at the same time concerns a simple healthy education. Our goal is it to help 30 children and their families from the poorest areas in Buenos Aires to simple functioning hygenic conditions. Practically this means: a) the purchase of the necessary materials b) common structure with the family and helpers and c) teach children and family to deal with their own body consciously and responsibly. At the same time the changes are to build schools for the children in the environment. 3 baths have successfully been established already!
"cultura para todos"
Education, cultivation, training. For most of the children the only way into a better world and often unattainably far. In this project the children receive instruction in general education, individual academic and psychological support, they learn English and even Tango & Folklore!
Everything with the goal of finding the way out of their misery, they meet in small groups, around where they live ones a week. At present there are 4 of these groups, completely scattered more or less outside of Buenos Aires.
This project has already had many success stories, since it´s principle says that the “big” ones support the “small” ones with their knowledge. Today, many of the former participants can make a living from teaching small groups again with their attained knowledge. Among other things there are also 4 professional Tango dancing couples in Buenos Aires, which received their Tango training within this project!
"cloths for kids"
Another completely practical project, in which all Tango travelers are easily able to participate effectively: In Argentina there are areas, where good clothes are absolute goods in short supply, at the same time for us Buenos Aires is a true shopper´s paradise.
Why not pack up somewhat less for your own needs and instead pack some second hand clothes to leave in Argentina? We collect everything and drive directly to places, where assistance is most urgently needed. The next transport is going to Santiago del Estero and we will bring pictures for you. Thanks to all travelers!
Conclusion- The Result:
We try to help children and families directly, and projects start to bear fruit. The project takes on the same principle:" I`ll help you, you´ll help others, with what you have learned. This is functioning amazingly well and there are many great stories and fates, but sometimes also setbacks. One thing that should never be forgotten, is that the ambience and environment of the kids is rough. Helpers are often in danger, e.g. they become victims of attacks. However, the results are great and encourage for more!
Question: Can i get involved?
Yes, it is possible in different ways and of course we are thankful for any support. The easiest way is to donate money, which will be send directly to Manuel who will apply it for certain projects, according to your desires. The second most easiest thing is the donation of clothes, which can be done while traveling to Buenos Aires. For that, we are also very thankful. For those of you who would like to get even more involved, please talk to us, there are many possible ways of helping. And, last but not least, every participant of a Tango-Tour helps automatically by travelling, since with every Tango-group tour alone, €100,- are being donated to the projects.
Question: Can I have a look at the projects?
Yes, even that is possible. We gladly take you along, however at your own risk. Not everything is active at all times, so please let us know in advance and we will try to give you a sufficient overview.
Question: Who is supporting the projects actively?
All Tango-Tour travelers support the projects by participating, many get more involved by bringing clothes, etc.
